Lincoln’s Civil Wars: Secession, Slavery, and Civil Liberties @ Hagerstown (Central) Washington County Free Library
Apr 16 @ 7:00 pm – Apr 16 @ 8:00 pm

First in a two-part lecture series:
In conjunction with the Lincoln: The Civil War and the Constitution traveling exhibit, which will be on display at the Fletcher Library from April 4—May 13, you are invited to join John Hoptak, a Civil War historian and Park Ranger at both the Antietam National Battlefield and Gettysburg National Military Park, for a series of two guided discussions focusing on how Lincoln both viewed and used the Constitution to confront the great challenges of leading the nation through its greatest trial: the Civil War. These two lecture-discussions will focus on the great issues faced by Lincoln during the conflict and on the ways in which he responded to the many political and Constitutional challenges the war presented.

The second lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 @ 7:00 pm.
