About Shalom Black Lane
Shalom joined Teens Have Choices as Executive Director in 2009, but she's not really sure how she got here, since she started out as an aspiring Medieval Literature professor! A graduate of Boonsboro High (go Warriors!), she has lived all over the East Coast, but returned here in 2009 out of a desire to make Washington County a better place for kids. Just in time, too, since she had her first kid in September 2011! She lives near Hagerstown, in the house she grew up in, with her husband Adam, daughter Zofia, and 3-legged cat, Aslan.

At Teens Have Choices, we invite teens to ask about anything that’s on their minds, and we do our best to provide a response that is both sincere and caring, while pointing out additional resources that may be needed. Unfortunately, we did not have enough people register, and it wouldn’t have been much fun without more participation! We hope to try this fundraiser at a later date, and will let you [...]

Remembering Mitchell and Quinn: Pulling Together When a Friend or Classmate Dies
I asked our friend Robin Morris of Hospice of Washington County for some tips for teens who are dealing with the death of a friend. The last month has been a difficult one for many people, first with the loss of Quinn Hoover, and now with the loss of Mitchell Akers. It’s a small county, [...]
